BASHIR LAZHAR WILL START FILMING THIS SUMMER



The production for Bashir Lazhar, Philippe Falardeau’s 4th feature film, will begin shooting this summer in Montreal. Written by Philippe Falardeau and based on a stage play by Evelyne de la Chenelière, the film tells the story of an Algerian immigrant who lands a job as a 6th grade substitute teacher after the tragic death of professor.

Produced by Luc Déry and Kim McCraw, Ronald Plante will act as director of photography, Emmanuel Fréchette as art director, Francesca Chamberland as costume designer, Sophie Leblond as editor while Nathalie Boutrie will be in charge of the casting. Financed by SODEC and Telefilm Canada, Bashir Lazhar will be distributed by Les Films Christal, a subsidiary of E1 Entertainment.
