ÉMILE PROULX-CLOUTIER Writer, director and actor

Émile Proulx-Cloutier studied cinema at Ahuntsic College where he shot his first short films. In 2004, he wrote and directed Papa, a short film which he also photographed, edited and composed music for. Acclaimed by critics in Quebec, the film was selected in official competition at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival, amongst others. He also won many prizes, including Best Short Film at the Jutra Awards and the Claude-Jutra/AQCC Award at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois.

Émile is also a graduate from the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal and he has played in many theatrical, television and film productions as an actor. He is most known for his role as Damien Paquin in the popular TV series Les hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin and will soon be seen as the lead role in Le Déserteur, the first feature film of director Simon Lavoie.

Émile Proulx-Cloutier is now working on Les Petits Géants, a documentary he is co-directing with Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette, as well as the post-production of his most recent short films, Les réfugiés and Karl, both produced by micro_scope.
